Each job post in Puck has a simple, visual pipeline to help you track every candidate—from first review to final decision. There are five default stages you can use to manage applicants and keep your process organized.

🪜 The 5 Pipeline Stages

From the pipeline view, you can toggle over each stage (e.g. Application Review, Initial Screen, Interviewing, etc.) to see a full list of candidates in that stage. Just click on the stage name or number to dive into that group.

  1. Application Review
All new applicants land here by default. Review resumes and check match scores to determine next steps.

  2. Initial Screen
Move candidates here once you’ve scheduled or completed an initial screen, such as a recruiter phone call or first-round assessment.

  3. Interviewing
Candidates who are moving forward in the process (team interviews, panel interviews, take-homes, etc.).

  4. Hired
Mark a candidate as hired when they’ve accepted your offer and are ready to join your team.

  5. Rejected
Move candidates here if they’re not the right fit at any stage. This helps you keep the active pipeline clean while still retaining a record of all applicants.

🔄 How to Move a Candidate in Puck

Once you're reviewing an applicant, there are two easy ways to move them through your pipeline:

✅ Option 1: Use the Stage Dropdown

At the top of the candidate profile, click the dropdown next to their current stage (e.g. Application Review).
Select one of the following options:

  • Initial Screen

  • Interviewing

  • Hired

  • Rejected

The candidate will be instantly moved to that stage.

✅ Option 2: Use the Advance or Reject Buttons

If you're ready to take action after reviewing the profile:

  • Click Advance to move the candidate to the next logical stage (e.g. from Application Review → Initial Screen).

  • Click Reject if they’re not a fit. They’ll be removed from your active pipeline but still searchable for reporting.
