How to filter candidates by Application questions

Quickly narrow down your applicant list by filtering candidates based on their responses to custom application questions

📋 Step 1: Edit your job page

  • Go to Pipelines in the main navigation and click on the specific job you want to update.

  • Click the More Options menu (three dots) in the top right corner and select Edit job.


➕ Step 2: Add and Configure Custom Questions

  • Scroll down the edit view until you reach the Application form section. Click the pencil icon to modify the questions.

  • In the Question Type dropdown, select your desired custom question format.

    • Click Save on the questions window, then click Update at the top of the main edit job view to apply your changes.


⚠️ Note: Filtering capabilities only apply to Yes/No, Multiple Choice, and Dropdown question types. Short answers cannot be used for filtering applicants.


This is how custom questions appear on your job page.


🔍 Step 3: Filter in Pipelines

Navigate to Pipelines and select the job you'd like to review. This will display the full list of applicants for that position.

Click the Application Questions dropdown menu.

  • Here, you'll see all custom questions currently assigned to the job (see Steps 1 and 2 for how to configure custom questions.

  • Select the responses you'd like to filter by, then click Apply Filter.


The applicant list will update to show only candidates whose responses match your selected criteria.


🎯 Step 4: Filter in Applicant Match

You can also filter applicants on the Applicant Match page.

Navigate to Applicant Match and select the job you'd like to review. This will display the full list of applicants for that position.

  • Click into your job from the Applicant Match list.

  • Click the Application questions dropdown filter at the top of the pipeline.

  • Select your criteria to immediately filter and narrow down your applicant list.

  • ⏱️ Reduce time spent manually reviewing applications.

  • 🎓 Prioritize applicants with specific qualifications, certifications, or experience.
