🛠️ Step 1: How to Set Up Your Criteria
Select Your Job: Navigate to the Applicant Match tab and click on the role you want to review to see your list of inbound applicants.
Generate Criteria: Click Match Applicants to job criteria. The system will automatically read your job description and suggest evaluation criteria.
Tip: This part is important to getting helpful scores. So read & make sure the criteria generated are right for the role where you want to review scores.
Set Location Filters: Enter your target location and customize the radius (in miles).
Note: The system automatically includes a buffer zone for nearby candidates and will clearly flag anyone outside of it.
Enable Auto-Match (Optional): Toggle this option on to automatically score new candidates against your criteria the moment they apply.
Run the Match: Click Match and sort applicants to generate your ranked list.
⏳ What to expect: A banner at the top of the page will show an estimated processing time. Scoring updates in real time and is often much faster than the conservative estimate.
🔍 Step 2: Reviewing & Advancing Candidates
Ranked Dashboard: Once scoring is complete, you can choose to re-sort the applicants by highest scores at the top.
Score Summaries: Click into any applicant to see a detailed breakdown of how their background matches your selected criteria.
Sync with Your ATS: Click Advance to move a candidate forward. This triggers your existing ATS automations and immediately removes them from your active review list so you can focus on remaining applicants.
Adjusting Criteria: Want to tweak your parameters? Click the pencil icon next to your criteria on the list view to adjust and score again.
💡 Why This Is Important
Eliminates Pipeline Noise: Instantly surfaces top talent, cutting down hours spent manually scanning resumes.
Standardizes Review: Scores every applicant against identical criteria to reduce bias and ensure fairness.
Uncovers Implicit Criteria: Surfaces underlying requirements and core skills that might not be explicitly stated in the job description.
Saves Workflow Time: Automatically updates your ATS and clears out reviewed profiles to keep your queue organized.
⚖️ Compliance Note for Federal Contractors (OFCCP)
To maintain compliance with OFCCP regulations, federal contractors must apply the same screening methodology to all applicants for a given role.
Best Practice: You do not have to use Applicant Match for every open role at your company. However, if you choose to use it for a specific job, it is strongly encouraged to use it consistently for all applicants applying to that same job.
