🔌 Step 1: Initial Integration Setup
Request the API Key from Puck (email support@careerpuck.com or click on the blue tray at the bottom righthand corner of your screen)
Navigate to Ashby → Admin → Integrations → Puck.
Paste the Puck API key into the Puck API Key field.
Reselect Puck prod for Ashby API Key.
Confirm the partner base URL: https://api.careerpuck.com/v1/webhooks/ashby/assessments
🎉 Success Check: Once complete, you'll see the verification banner: Your organization has the Puck integration enabled
📋 Step 2: Edit the Interview Plan
Add your AI assessment to any point in your existing recruiting pipeline.
Open your target job in Ashby and go to the Interview Plan tab.
Select the specific pipeline stage where you want to introduce the evaluation.
Click + Add Activity, select the Puck integration
4. Choose your corresponding AI Interview from the Assessment Type dropdown list.
For information on creating AI Interviews in Puck, reference this article.
5. Click Add to lock the activity into the stage.
⚙️ Step 3: Enable Automations
Save your team manual clicks by ensuring candidates are invited the second they change stages.
Click on Modify > Edit > Automation tab.
Check the box labeled Automate on Stage Entry?
⚠️ Manual Fallback: If you choose to leave this untoggled, recruiters will need to manually open each candidate's profile and click Start Assessment followed by Start to trigger the invitation email.
Once enabled:
As soon as a candidate is moved into that stage, Ashby automatically sends the assessment.
A ⚡ lightning bolt icon will appear next to the stage in the interview plan, indicating it has an automated activity.
If you accidentally move a candidate into the stage, Ashby gives you a short window (about 15–20 seconds) to Undo the automation before it's sent.
✉️ Step 4: Send the Assessment Initiation
If you don't enable automations, you'll have to manually click Start Assessment to each candidate.
2. Click Start to email the invitation to interview to the candidate.
📋 Tracking Status: A notification log (e.g., "[Assessment name] was sent to [Candidate] for [Role] by [User]") will appear in the candidate activity feed. This verifies that the invite email was sent out.
✅ Step 5: Completion Notification
Once the candidate completes their AI interview, the assessment activity icon will automatically turn into a grey checkmark icon, and an Assessment Finished status note will appear under the activity feed.
🔍 Step 6: Review Results
Expand the Puck Assessment Details section within the candidate's Ashby profile.
2. Click View in Puck.
3. You will be prompted to log in to your Puck dashboard, which will drop you directly into that candidate's specific interview results. Here, you can review the full text Transcript, generated Summary, and overall AI evaluation scores.
🔍 Step 7: Scoring
Scoring a candidate is in the hands of your recruiting team.
Once you assign a score via the Puck Interview Scorecard, the score will send back to Ashby
